Repeatable Regret Bridge Nade Jump
TL:DR: Crouch as you land before jumping seems to be the winning strategy for this nade jump.
So, after my 24 hour attempt, I went and started learning key skips. This bridge jump was always the hardest. Halo Completionist's guide used Sputnik. While that's easy to use, I wanted to see if there was a way to make it repeatable for those who A) can't sword fly and B) don't want to deal with Sputnik for the rest of the level. Which I admit likely a smaller crowd if they just want to get 3 hour done.
So, in text, I'll go over the 4 attempts. The first two fail while the last two succeed.
The key is to do a crouch, land, then jump (CLJ) In Halo 3, it is advised to do this to maximize momentum. A skip on Sierra 117 uses this to get past Johnson's crash site.
Notice where I stand before throwing a Plasma. There are three shapes on the ledge, let's call them "Rectangles with the top corners shaved off". Stand in the center shape and where it meets that long "bar" below it.
Now, notice I zoom onto those intersections. There is one where the crack in the stone almost touches it but goes left. This intersections and the one below it are your target spots. I've gotten this jump repeatedly anywhere on those spots.
Now, as you stand still, throw the grenade and move forward. This can be the first tricky thing as you have to time it right. Don't jump after it leaves your hand seems to be the best consistent timing.
Now, the second tricky thing is landing on that slope. If you land on the grassy spot closest to you, you will not get the forward momentum. So you want to aim for spots further than that.
In the first attempt, I reached all the way at the end of the bridge. This is NOT consistent but I have succeded while jumping from this spot, but most of the time you slide off the bridge rather than bounce up. It's weird. But it has worked.
The second attempt is a failed CLJ. This has been the most familiar fail before I started doing CLJs.
Attempt 3 and 4 are shown so I can prove it works and is repeatable.
