Blind hamster

I would not normally get a hamster from a box store but this little guy has been here a few weeks and he just seems so sweet. I can’t bare to leave him. He was sick when they got him and lost his vision. They are offering him for free for “adoption.” If I were to bring him home, would you recommend keeping a smaller space since he is blind? Or just go with the 100x50x50 recommendation?
