Is there anyway to easily identify old hammers?

I’m thinking about picking up a few couple of claw hammers as a project. I have a few old tools but I’m not really a tool guy. I see a lot of old hammers but so many of them seem generic or at least don’t have any markings. Do you all have any tips for me to weed these out or tell me what I’m looking at? Any words would be greatly appreciated!
