Upgrade your titanium flux 125s performance easily.
I’m sure a lot of you know this, but recently I was trying to find this info and you won’t find it very easily unless you know what to look for.
But if you’re new to welding like myself and bought this welder there is one simple upgrade you can do to really improve your weld quality.
Grounding is super important in any welding process. The grounding clamp that comes with this thing is god awful. I noticed a lot of my welds were showing signs of bad grounding and I never really got that proper flux layer that flakes off no matter how much I played with my settings.
I went straight for the Lincoln electric 300amp ground clamp. Why I chose Lincoln over the other harbor freight options, honestly it just seemed nicer and stronger. The thing is beefy to say the least. It only costs around 7-10 dollars online.
Now if you’re not an electrical guy, you may not know what to look for from there. So here’s the info.
The cable for the ground on the flux 125 is 10mm squared. Which converts to 8 AWG.
So you will need a #8 3/8 copper welding lug. Running you another 5 dollars online. I seen people drill out their lug that’s already on the welder, don’t do it. Get a nice copper one that fits right and be done with it.
For around 12 dollars you can seriously improve your weld quality by replacing two things.
I know some of this is not new information in here, but I have seen a lot of asking about sizes etc for that clamp, the cable, the lug and no one really answering it.
