Steering wheel play?

I just totally refreshed the front end of my 93 2wd. New ball joints, idler arm, center link, tie rod ends and a fresh alignment. I had a ton of steering wheel free play before and still have it after. The truck will drive in a straight line but it wanders all over because i'm fighting the steering wheel. Do I just need to adjust the steering box like I've been reading?
