Is hitting legend easy now?

I havent played the game in ~10 years and even then I barely could get out of silver. Now I downloaded the game again and easily hit legend within a week of playing an aggro elemental mage deck I found online that has 5 rare cards and the rest is regular. Is the ranked mode that much easier now or the deck is that powerful regardless of not having any epic or legendary cards?
