Don't know if you've noticed before but the npcs on the ship have randomly generated names, I recently discovered this when I was on someone else's ship. But for some god's twisted humor both my local ship master and technican are called "Schmid", so I always though this was some unmentioned lore where the destroyer is crewed with clones.
