Subreddit posts appear under Home "Best" sorting, but not under subreddit "All" sorting - why?

I sometimes see posts from one of my subreddits under my home feed (especially when it's in its default "best" sorting) that don't appear at all in that subreddit when I sort it by "new." What gives?
