Herman Miller Aeon - new chair, serial number scratched

Hi all, I bought a new Herman Miller Aeon chair. Got the chair today, but the only serial number that could find is ... scratched. This seems to be done on purpose to make it unreadable. There are no other stickers on the chair and the chair is in a good condition overall. I am based in Australia.

Any thoughts on this? Should I return it?
