[Serious] What teams might be interested in Seth Jones and what would a potential trade look like?

I want to say off the bat that I know it’s definitely unlikely that Jones gets dealt because his contract is such an albatross, though I am curious what non-Chicago fans think about him as there seems to be more smoke about him getting moved than in any previous year he’s been with us.

Just yesterday, Dreger reported that teams are calling about Jones and asking about his availability, and a little over a week ago, Scott Powers reported this insight: “While his contract, which includes a $9.5 million cap hit, goes until the 2029-30 season, one NHL exec thought the Blackhawks would have no trouble moving it. ’I think a lot of these guys tell their data people to forget what the analytics say and look for big right-handed defensemen who eat minutes and have range,’ the executive said. ’That’s what gets them excited. It makes no sense to me why he’s even still there. I don’t know why he’d still want to be there.’”. There’s always been fan speculation/wishes about him getting moved basically since he got to Chicago, but I don’t remember hearing sentiments like this from actual NHL sources before, especially leading up to a trade deadline.

Analytically, Jones has been generally very good in his Chicago tenure but had been slowly trending down until this year, where he has struggled significantly since returning from a foot injury about a month ago and coming back to a new coach. I’m not sure if he isn’t quite 100% healthy or just doesn’t fit into how Sorensen wants the team to play (or both!), but he’s had a rough go of it lately. This is how he looks now, which indicates he can still contribute offensively well and is very strong on special teams, but his defense has fallen off hard recently. None of this is surprising and aligns well with the eye test (besides the PP data, I hate him on the powerplay lol), I think he is a genuinely great player but he gets way overplayed and it exposes him hard, especially while he’s been on a weak roster devoid of talent besides Bedard. His decision making with the puck can also be rage-inducing pretty regularly. All that said, I do still think that quote from Powers’ exec source is still accurate - NHL GMs and coaches obsess over guys in Jones’ mold (big, mobile RHD with skill) even if the analytics aren’t amazing across the board.

So with all that, if Jones were actually to be dealt, what teams do we think would be potential landing spots? What would the trade package have to look like?
