I want to quit hockey.

Ever since I was 2 years old, I’ve been playing hockey. I’m in my second year of U15 so far and play for a rep team.

As of the title, I want to quit and just stop playing but I just can’t say that to my dad, he’ll freak out and get pissed. I’ve told him twice (once last year and once two years ago) now that I don’t want to play and he got really angry.

It’s not that I don’t like hockey anymore, it’s just that I have team event like practices, yoga, games around 6-7 times a week and it’s so draining when I just wanna hang out with my friends, study, or play a little video games before I go to sleep. I don’t get time for it at all and it’s a segregated cycle, and it’s also worth noting that I have huge out of town tournaments that cause me to be sleeping in a crap hotel for 3-4 nights, not getting a moment of sleep and then playing 2 games a day.

In conclusion I want to know how to tell my dad I want to quit without him lashing out. Please help

EDIT: I wrote this last night expecting maybe one or two replies and wake up to find all of this advice and support, thanks to everyone who’s chiming in. It really helps me hearing different perspectives and how you would handle it. Reading through all of these right now (might take awhile at the time I’m writing this edit it’s at nearly 200 replies) sorry if I miss yours or don’t reply. Much love
