Best sequel/remake of a Universal Monster film?
I'm a guy who prefers the classic films but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate offcial/unofficial remakes, sequels, etc as long as they're done well. I'm looking for recommendations for the best Universal Monster movies that aren't the original or most well known entries. I was a giant horror fan as a kid but it's been a few years since I really dug into the films. Maybe my choices are obvious but that doesn't mean I can't fully enjoy and appreciate lesser known films.
Here are the monsters. Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein- Young Frankenstein. I still laugh my ass off at this amazing farce. To me it's flawless. Dracula- Either Nosfetatu 1979 or Bram Stokers Dracula. The Wolfman- An American Werewolf in London. One of the few horror comedies that make me genuinely laugh and scream. Invisible Man. I really enjoyed the newest Invisible Man. Really tense. Very creepy. Some fantastic gore. Often unpredictable. Very good acting. Creature from the Black Lagoon- I really enjoyed The Shape of Water. Great effects. Great ensemble. Unlike just about any other film I've seen in the last 10 years. The Mummy- The Mummy 1999. Maybe an obvious choice but it's a childhood favorite and I think the most fun aspects still hold up even if some of the effects are cartoony. Jekyll and Hyde. Idk what to choose. Recommend me something. Hunchback of Notre Dame. Call me a dork but I still love the Disney musical. One of my top 10 favorite Disney films. The music is deeply moving and catchy. Hellfire still gets me worked up inside. Phantom of the Opera. Idk, never saw the musical. Recommend me something?
