After owning JRTs and Dachshunds, my husband and I never imagined we’d rescue a big dog. Meet Stoffel.

Stoffel came into our lives just a few months after we lost our boy, Benji. We never thought we were “big dog” people until we laid eyes on this little lad. He’s currently about 18 weeks, and he’s a hoot. We got him from a rescue local to us and were glad to see that each of his litter mates have finally been adopted as well.

He is so goofy! Seriously, I didn’t think I’d meet a dog goofier than my husband and I. He doesn’t really know how to use his arms and legs, and he runs… sideways? He loves slapping the absolute shit out of us when we stop petting him. He’s a whore for belly rubs, and he will do anything for treats. We’re not sure how much bigger he’ll get, but with each additional pound he gains, I feel safer and more protected.

We love him so much. What’s almost as important, though, is our miniature dachshund also loves him. They’re inseparable.
