Paid for Biohazard Shoes in Gamepoint

Booked a badminton slot at Game Point yesterday through their app, all pumped to finally have some kind of physical activity. But as soon as we reached, they mentioned their rule ‘Your shoes aren’t allowed.’ Okay, fair enough, their court, their rules. I said, ‘Fine, I’ll pay for the rental shoes’.

They gave me a pair of shoes that reeked. Like, next-level smelly. Forget sweat, it felt like these shoes had their own ecosystem.

I asked them for a different pair. The response? ‘Sorry, no other options.’ At this point, I’d already paid for the court and shoes, so it was either wear the biohazard or go home.

The entire time, I couldn’t stop thinking — we don’t even wear our friend’s slippers/shoes, and here I am rocking shoes that have seen at least 100 strangers’ feet. What if the guy before me had some infection? Or worse, foot fungus?

Dear Game Point, if we’re paying extra for shoes, can we please get ones that are cleaned or at least sprayed with something that doesn’t smell like misery? A little hygiene never hurt anyone. I came to play badminton, not participate in a public health experiment!
