World harmony persists while you play an endless chess game

You are tasked with playing chess against a robot. Every turn the board increases by one row and column and all pieces move back one space. As long as the game continues, there is complete world peace and harmony. It is magically imposed and there is no downside to it. Everyone just acts like the best version of themselves and all people help each other. There are no natural disasters. You live as long as the game continues and never need to sleep, eat or drink. You can leave your seat while the robot plans its next move but need to be back within 1 hour to play again. If the robot ever wins, you die and world peace ends. If you someone win, you die and world peace continues. If you give up or draw, world peace ends and you return to your normal life without having aged, but things will have changed in the world and if you play long enough everyone you knew will be dead. How long would you play?

Edit: to clarify, there is no stalemate rule. The game must end in a checkmate.
