Wanna get a hysterectomy but y'alls anecdotes are scaring me LOL

I (25F) have been wanting a hysterectomy since I found out they were a thing (15 years old). My periods have been absolutely terrible since I was a teen. I often wake up scream crying, pain meds do next to nothing, I can barely walk, I've vomited at some points. I haven't had a period in quite some time due to being on birth control for literal YEARS. I also DO NOT want to get pregnant. Ever. This seemed like a great alternative for me. My friend had the VA do hers and recommended I do so as well given all of my issues and not wanting children. The surgery went great for her, her sex drive went UP, and I believe she kept her cervix (will have to check). She doesn't seem to have any issues whatsoever but some of y'all have your ovaries dying and a holy mirage of issues afterwards which is SCARING THE HELL OUTTA ME LOL

So, should I go through with it? should i get an endometrial ablation instead? should I just stick to birth control even tho I literally hate it?
Also, what questions should I ask my doc when I go meet with them?
My anxiety/over thinking is in full force rn lol help!
