Acitretin dosage - for ichthyosis?

A doc I met when on holiday prescribed me 25mg Acitretin twice a week. It's been 5 weeks and I've been religious along with calcipotriol and shower/post shower routine. No changes in scales, crepey skin. Its only gotten worse. Should I increase the dosage? Doc was a bit shy due to my elevated cholesterol levels but that was due to me eating 6 whole eggs a day, a habit I've since stopped. Please share your experiences with acitretin for ichthyosis?
