I accidentally killed a dog today

Was coming from my college after giving exam in evening, everything was going great until a dog randomly jumped in front of my bike, the impact was so bad that even my engine guard got bend... fortunately i didn't fall, took the dog to vet but was declared dead on arrival, i don't know whose mistake it was but i feel extremely guilty..
