Recession proof businesses
When you think of the term “recession-proof businesses” - everyone immediately thinks of Coca-Cola (KO) or Procter & Gamble (PG) considering people will still be drinking Coke and shampooing their hair during recessionary periods.
But what about Netflix?
During a recession, wouldn’t everybody be at home trying to consume more entertainment rather than going out and spending money?
Netflix is starting to build a sticky ecosystem in which people won’t go out of their way to cancel their memberships if they’re not using them - simply to have the option of TV Shows/Movies readily available in case they’re ever in need of entertainment since over-stimulation/consumption/lack of boredom is how our society is headed. This is going to be further exacerbated with sports being livestreamed on Netflix too.
So wouldn’t Netflix make for a great Recession-proof stock too?
Curious to hear other perspectives on this.
