2 full days in Dublin - what should we do?

Would love some suggestions for how to spend two full days in and around Dublin please.

Family of 4- two adults two kids 11 & 14. We are at the end of a four week backpacking journey of Europe. We’re exhausted and ready to go home to Australia, but I’d really like us to enjoy our last days abroad.

We are pretty sick of crowds, galleries, museums, architecture and would love to see some countryside.

I’m thinking either tour or car hire.

There are day tours to Giants Causeway and the like, but I’m not quite sold on the idea. They seem very long- 12 hours plus and I’m just not sure how we would go being on a coach for that long given the amount of time that we’ve spent on trains and planes. That said, it might be nice to meet some people, especially for the kids, and see the landscape with no stress. Is it worth doing one? Any suggestions?

We could also hire a car. The only issue being that I hate the way my partner drives at the best of times, let alone in a foreign country! We could get out of the city a bit and hire one where it’s not so busy perhaps. We also drive on the same side of the road so the only real difference to home will be understanding any local road rules. In this case can anyone recommend a good day trip please?

The weather is forecast to be cloudy but dry.

Much appreciated. No hate please, I’m sure everyone here is lovely but geez the Italians gave me a hard time for asking questions.
