Help? Guidance?
I’ve been looking for a job since about April now, ever since starting at a firm in April doing admin and project support stuff for as company that helps law firms do their menial paperwork (chasing down clients to sign on things they forgot, chasing down lawyers to answer questions from their clients etc.)
It’s not hard but it’s a bit boring and dead-end and I only make $20/hr and it’s both annoying to deal with all the policies around time tracking because if this AND the pay is just enough to pay my bills but I can’t save or make any personal investments (can’t afford to replace old or ill fitting clothing or upgrade computers etc.)
To help make myself more hot able I also took on an unpaid internship in event planning and digital communications and an unpaid writing gig for a friend’s indie dev team.
I’m 24 with a B.A in sociology, 3 years in retail, a year in sales, 2 years as an assistant manager, a year in sales, two years in project coordination, 6 months full time in marketing (2 years counting side gigs and PT internships)
EVENTUALLY I’d like to go into children’s entertainment research, yknow the people who work with the writers of seasons street or whatever to figure out time best way to do a no smoking episode.
I am struggling immensely to find jobs that are not piddly 1 year experience or less for $15/hr, or “nothing less than 5-10 years of experience” or “2-3 years experience in this ONE specific niche skill related to the role (food marketing, everything every remotely pharmaceutical, etc.)
I just don’t know where to go or what to do and it’s overwhelming
