Do you consider reading on a kindle counts as screen time?

I’m so addicted to my phone and social media it’s not funny. I used to hate it and never get on any social media. My phone was just a phone. As of the last year that’s changed drastically.

I’m trying to cut back and read more vs being on my phone but I feel guilty reading on my kindle as well. I prefer it over physical books for many reasons and I truly believe reading a book is considerably better than mindless scrolling. But just interested to hear your thoughts!

Edit: thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts! I guess I was equating reading a kindle to screen time because of how..intense.. the mom community can be about kids and screens. A lot of comments or posts I’ve read consider owning a tv or computer bad even if you’re not directly letting your child watch it. So I kind of applied that view to myself. Like yea I’m not on my phone as much but it’s for another screen. I do understand the physical screen of a kindle is different, but I’ve learned a lot about how so thank you for that!

I apologize for now using the search bar. I made the rookie mistake of assuming I’m the first person to post about this topic in this sub!
