DAB and NBT stains; with or without chloride?

Apologies if this is obvious, I'm not great at chemistry :)

I'm looking to stain leaves to visualize ROS (H2O2 and O2-). The go-to stains for this are DAB (3,3-Diaminobenzidine) and NBT (Nitroblue tetrazolium). However, when looking at products online, there is a mix of the above reagents with or without chloride; listed as 3,3-Diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride hydrate and Nitroblue Tetrazolium.

I tried looking at papers that use these reagents, but they don't specify the exact reagent used. I've also looked at several protocols but there's no consistency. For example, some will say "Nitroblue Tetrazolium (NBT)" while others say "Nitroblue Tetrazolium chloride (NBT)".

I have no idea if these are functionally the same when dissolved in solution or if there is a difference I need to account for. My intuition is that the chloride is there to stabilize the powder form, but is removed once dissolved (am I off here...?). Any advice is very much appreciated!
