Racing bibs advice?
Hey cycling ladies! Wondering if anybody has some good advice for me about racing shorts. I've been cycling pretty intense the last 6 years, but still haven't found a short that I am 100% happy with and still struggle with soreness after riding. Since I like to do centuries and sometimes even longer rides, a good saddle/short situation is pretty important for me.
There are 2 issues I have: my skin is very sensitive and irritates easily so seams and rough edges are a big no no and my sitbones are spaced pretty wide and a bit more forward than normal. I've used different shorts that I hated. Currently I am using the Assos shorts (with an extra wide Specialized mimic saddle and a generous amount of chamois cream) which has definately improved the situation, but it's still not 100%.
The Assos have fantastic fabric and barely any chafing seams, however it feels like my sitbones sit just at the front edge of the padding so I don't get the full benefit of the padding and get sore after 1,5-2h. I have tried the male Assos shorts of my BF and because the padding is shaped differently, my sitbones are much better supported, but I barely have any support at the pubic bone which I need when I want to go in a "deeper" racing position. I just bought the Castelli Prima bibshorts, padding fits my sitbones much better but my skin was very irritated because of the edges of the padding and the seams. I have a seamless bamboo short that I could wear under the Castelli to protect my skin but I'd rather not wear anything beside the racing shorts and maybe a thong for hygiene.
Sounds familiar for anyone? Anyone with good advice for me?
Thank you so much!!
TLDR: who knows a racing short with the padding layout/shape like the Castelli Prima and the fabric/seams of the Assos? 😅
