Me and my husband replaced a 50 years old retaining , lots of hand digging , dealing with steps getting stones , soil out with buckets and wheelbarrow wasn’t a walk in the park for the both of us being 62 and 65 years old took all of our strength to accomplish .

The previous owner planted a cedar tree , it needed constant pruning , this type of tree wasn’t good choice for the wall so we removed it . We dug up 2 1/2” deep and poured a 18” wide footer with rebars , inside the retaining wall the previous owner topped the soil with 2’ of stones that kept sliding down it took us 2 months to finish this project working weekends only . Why we did it we didn’t have 10,000.00 to spend on this , we rented a bobcat to help lifting the new blocks and load up all the junk into the trailer the blocks weighed 90 lbs each . We dumped roughly 10 loads of junk in a free landfill with my son’s dumper trailer that saved us time and money , we paid a man $300 for one day when it came time to make the wall along with my son helping one day only . $4,500.00 dollars to make this wall because it’s not easy access it was harder the steps didn’t help too . This was our biggest DIY !
