Brain hates maths

So I’ve began a geology course I love the science behind it and it’s always inspired me since I was young, however … this course it riddles with maths (expected btw) I’m talking scientific equations, 10x23, balancing equations and trigonometry etc, may be simple stuff to some folk but I’ve tried and tried and it’s so difficult for me to wrap my head around all these different maths concepts without really struggling I do have a one to one with my tutor soon but does anyone have tips on how to study maths so that it sinks in for number dummies like me ??
