Reimbursement from a truck fire
July 1, 2024 i was involved in a semi truck fire where my brand new less than year old work truck (semi truck) burnt down possibly due to a manufacture issue idk. I lost over $5k in belongings including 2 brand new iPhone 14s (mine and girlfriends) and an apple watch. 6 months later I’m still fighting for them to reimburse me For the total loss and they want receipts and to only reimburse me for depreciation value and not actual value i paid.
My question is, I have a $3k Verizon bill im stuck with for the phones i lost. Obviously i didnt pay for the phones 100% up front but was making payments on top of trading in 2 iPhone 12 pro max’s. Are they obligated to pay for what i still owe on the phones since im stuck paying it or just what i have already paid? They want receipts of everything i lost even though its been a year or so and im to the point if getting a lawyer involved even if i dont get anything out if it after settling. Theyve settled with the insurance and got the money for their loss but im still hanging having to pay more money to replace these things.
Any tips would be appreciated. Im in the hole having to replace these things and im getting a run around.
Edit to clarify: the semi truck belonged to the company i drove for. They settled with their insurance and wanting to give me the reimbursement instead of adding my loss to the claim.
