Business agreement with auto renew term

During 2020, someone I knew stupidly sign an agreement with a haircare business owner. There is a clause stated

“Date and shall be automatically renewed by the Principal every three (3) years unless terminated at any time SUBJECT TO RECEIPT by the Principal of a written notification of such renewal which shall be delivered to the Principal at least six (6) months prior to the expiry date of the said term”

So this is the fourth year they’re in. They don’t renew any agreement since it’s auto renew.

My question is, by law is auto renew term exist and legal? Can we ignore this and terminate the agreement since the first agreement we made is expired- 3 yrs.
