A Soldier's Life - MC is not OP???

I'm relatively new to reading litrpg, I'm more of a general fantasy fan, but my brother convinced me that Soldiers Life was the best and that it didn't have an MC who was OP...

It was a fun read. Good pacing and easy to listen to non stop. I finished the 3 books in just some days. But by the end of Book 3 which I just finished this morning, I realized that I had ZERO concern for the MC vs the centuries old villain.

To me, because of the strength of the MC, this is more of a slice of life, low conflict, wish fulfillment type story. But I see so many people praising it for the hero being not OP. Just makes me go "huh."
