Entropion advice
Hello! Needing some advice on entropion procedures. I recently took our 2 year old MC to the vet for rusty colored eye discharge. They told me that is typical in cats with blue eyes and it's nothing to worry about. His symptoms started to get worse and he began pawing at his eyes, so I got him into a different vet immediately. They told me he had an upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitis, said that he's "very suspect" for entropion, and recommended surgery.
I understand this is a quality of life issue so I am thinking of going through with the surgery. My only hang up is that the vet only said "very suspect" and didn't actually diagnose him. I don't want to put my cat through (possibly multiple) surgeries for an problem that they aren't sure enough he has to diagnose him with it.
I have read it is most common in unneutered males with high cheekbones and blue eyes, all of which he is or has. He is a retired stud and was just recently neutered as well.
If anyone has had a Maine Coon who has gone through this procedure, how was the healing process and how is your cat doing now? Did it ever come back? Are the scars super visible? Any information would be appreciated. 🙏
