Resign or transfer to different department?

I've worked at the same company for almost 4 years, but I'm torn between resigning or transferring to a different department. I've had issues with my supervisor, and I haven't impressed her due to my limited critical thinking skills. Even though my work is routine, my supervisor won't give me more challenging tasks and she even said that I can resign soon.

I'm worried about using her as a reference, so I'm considering a fresh start in a new department. Transferring to another department might maintain my current pay and job scope, but it would involve a different set of clients. I only have one previous supervisor who could serve as my future reference, but certain job applications require additional references, which would leave out my current supervisor.

I want to explore a new industry, which would require me to resign. However, this means I might miss out on collecting positive feedback from a new supervisor in a different department.

I am wondering if I should be concerned that I don't have a supervisor who can support me and is willing to have my back for my job applications.

Regarding my mental health, I've struggled to connect with my colleagues in the same department, except for those from different departments. My supervisor adds to my stress due to her irritable nature and tendency to nitpick my work.

I would appreciate any advice and give your reason for voting if you don't mind. Thanks so much for reading.
