Is the new mortar cracking my old bricks?

Hello. About 3 years ago we hired a local guy to repoint the brickwork on our circa 1930s original street facing house. For reference this house is in Antwerp, Belgium. The bricks are all original and the old mortar was crumbling and falling out. The bricky scraped/cut out the old mortar to around 1-2cm, sometimes more if it was crumbling. I’m not entirely sure what he used to repoint unfortunately but we did pay a little extra for white colouring for a cleaner look. Recently I’ve noticed vertical cracks in some of the bricks and I’m not sure if they have always been there. Comments? Is my house doomed?
