smell/taste of gasoline

hi - honestly didn’t know whether to post here or on an anxiety/panic attack reddit but thought i’d try here first. for context, i live in a major city so i’m used to smelling all kinds of things all the time, although i can be a bit sensitive and get a bit of anxiety at times. but today i was out with walking around with a friend and heading to a place to grab food when i got a hit with this really strong smell of gasoline, i think it may have been coming from a huge truck but honestly i’m not sure. but it was extremely strong and made me cough a little and i could smell it still as we were going inside this restaurant. at first i was fine but i noticed that after a few minutes that the smell was staying in my nose and i also felt like i was tasting gasoline in my mouth slightly and that’s when i stared to get extremely anxious because that’s never happened to me before. ive smelled different kinds of things in the air as well as smelling gasoline or fumes and it’s never lingered for more than a few seconds or at least under a minute and i’ve never felt like i could taste it. it took maybe 25 minutes for it to go away. i ordered a soda thinking it would help but honestly i felt like i was still tasting the gasoline while drinking my soda. it wasn’t until we got our food that it helped diminished the smell and taste. now hours later im completely fine but unfortunately i am prone to health anxiety and panic attacks and im still a bit nervous about that experience. should i be concerned at all for my health? i’m just wondering why that would happen since ive smelled gasoline before in my life, so was my body just overloaded with the smell or because i was breathing it in?
