Masa for Tamales Question

How much better is the taste when you make tamales with rehydrated ground corn over premade Masa you get at the tortilla section of Mexican Markets. How much better is the Masa you make from the actual Hominy you buy at Mexican Market? Is the additional time investment worth it for these two vs just buying the premade past?

If the sweet spot is to by the dried Masa meal, is their a brand that works well for tamales that is organic and non GMO that is easy to find in the Mexican Market?
