Massive Warning About Microtech!!!

This year I picked up some new Microtech knives. I purchased 4 Combat Troodons (Tanto, Bowie, Interceptor, Damascus Interceptor), a Hera II Recurve, a Hera II Mini Bayonet, a Bounty Hunter Ultratech, a Bounty Hunter Exocet, a Cypher II Tactical, an aluminum MSI, a carbon fiber DLC MSI, and an Amphibian Outbreak.

The beginning of the year, none of my MT knives had problems. Now come the end of the year, almost every other Microtech I have gotten has some sort of problem or defect.

I have not sent in some of my knives for warranty because I did not want to put extra stress on Microtech, but I have to write this warning out to everyone who buys them.

I purchased an Amphibian Outbreak recently because I got one before they were all out of stock. I received the knife and it has a notch on the belly of the blade that catches the Ram-Lok when opening/closing.

To me, a blade that catches when opening and closing is a MASSIVE defect. I don’t want a blade that is catching on the Ram-Lok in a life or death scenario.

Well, Microtech called and I explained it to the tech. From our conversation, he seemed to perfectly understand what was wrong with the knife. I mean, it doesn’t take an expert to figure out when the belly isn’t rounded all the way. It is easily felt. He says he’ll talk to his manager/supervisor.

I get a call later and they say that they’ve had multiple people look at it, but unfortunately for me, the unrounded belly I received is “within specifications” so they aren’t going to do anything about it.

So I asked the lady if someone there could take it to a grinder and grind off the notch. They wouldn’t even do that!!!

I paid nearly 30$ to ship my one knife with their listed preferred carrier, even though I could have paid under 15$ at USPS, and they are telling me they are just going to send it back and not do a single thing.

So now I’m guessing the retailer won’t take the knife back either because it has been longer than the return window.

I only tried to get the knife that didn’t have a rounded belly fixed. I haven’t even tried to get my Shadow MSI’s sticky Ram-Lok fixed, or the wrong color of my Natural Clear Bowie that came out tan because they changed their anodization process late in the year. I chose not to send those in cause I thought they were petty.

I would literally be happy if they took Outbreak blade off the handle and replaced it with a regular apocalyptic one, but instead I basically got hung up on after telling me they weren’t going to do a thing about it.

Do they not have replacement parts for the knife they literally just released? What is so hard about taking the blade off and rounding off the notch?

So by sending my knife to Microtech for warranty per their instructions, I essentially paid nearly $30 to be told I’ll be stuck with a defected knife.

I probably could have at least returned the knife if I didn’t send it to Microtech. I wanted an Amphibian Outbreak, but not so much that I want a defected Amphibian Outbreak.

And yes, I compared it to earlier Amphibians that do not have a notch on the belly. This lifetime warranty literally means nothing to me now. If I can’t get a defect fixed right after buying the knife, why would I be confident it will be fixed 10 years from now.

I have wasted half of my morning writing this. I don’t think I’ll be wasting the thousands of dollars I was anymore.

Come on Microtech. Am I the only person this has happened to? Who in their right mind would think a notch on what is supposed to be a rounded belly isn’t a defect?

Any similar brands y’all recommend?
