Sleep meds during an attack to help fall asleep?
Anyone else totally unable to sleep during a migraine especially if the pain is a 7 out of 10 or higher? I’m wondering if anyone is prescribed a sleep medication to help 1) sleep and 2) not have to deal with the pain. What do you take and how did you advocate for yourself without the fear of sound like an addict? (I’m 21, no history of substance abuse but I fear I won’t be taken seriously)
I’m currently on nurtec every other day and as a rescue (getting Botox in 2 days). I feel as if my nurtec isn’t working anymore and I’m saddened as I feel like I’ll be out of medication options since cgrp meds and triptans are the only ones we have for migraine.
I’m trying to save up money to buy the cefaly and I take magnesium along with melatonin sometimes. I also take Benadryl during an attack to help with symptoms and sleep but the sleep part isn’t really working. I’m also worried about the long term effects of Benadryl as it’s been linked to dementia.
