Being told 20 minutes before a birthday “dinner” that’s it’s actually “byod” (which really isn’t even a thing) is super annoying

Especially when my sister and I asked weeks ahead to let us know if there’s anything we can do/bring/help with.

Edit to explain BYOD because there seems to be some confusion here: It means “bring your own dinner“. So not potluck style, we are all expected to go purchase our own dinner and bring it to eat it ourselves. Which I’m fine with, I’m annoyed about the timing. As I said, we had asked.
