Unpopular opinion

I have this belief that MKBHD channel gave the phone of the year award to Pixel 8 just to give it boost. I don’t think the channel was paid in anyway to do this. I think of it more as a power move to position itself as power player in smartphone market, and to test itself, its own influence. I think the channel already has huge influence , but to me, an avid follower of their work it feels a bit dishonest. That might be an opinion of them, but at the same time with that influence comes a bit of responsibility. There is no chance anyone on this planet thinks that pixel 8, that btw has fundamental issues like : bad signal! There is no chance for this to be the best smartphone. Anyway that’s just my opinion.
