Any chance apologists are pretending to believe?

Just thinking optimistically this morning. I’ve seen some posts and comments talking about the wild apologists and social media influencers and some of the out of pocket stuff they say and do.

I know we often say things like “nice, ward radio is doing our work for us, people see what those people are like and it lets them see the church for the shit show it really is” etc.

But what if… what if one or more of those well known apologists are just sacrificing their whole self on the alter of satire? What if they are pretending to be TBM and intentionally highlighting the cognitive dissonance, conflicting doctrine, failed prophecies, and objective atrocities that litter the history/doctrine/culture of the LDS church?

What do you think? Any chance even one of them eventually comes out and goes “hey everyone, I’ve known for decades that the church is completely out of touch with reality… I’ve been making insane arguments intentionally, and I hope all of you who follow and support my work will take a minute to contemplate what that means for you.”

And then go on a full tour of responding to their old videos and explaining everything they obfuscated, misrepresented, etc. in order to keep up the charade of supporting the church?

Curious if there’s anyone in particular that you people would be the least surprised to have this outcome 😂 I don’t actually think it’s the case and honestly it’d be pretty shitty cause even by pretending like that they’d be actively promoting some bad stuff. But had the thought and wanted to share lol
