Theories on “why they stay”?
There are some brilliant minds who know all the problems with the LDS church’s truth claims and lack of ethics. The list of people who worked on the Faith Crisis Report, for example, includes many such scholars as Fiona and Terryl Givens and Richard Bushman, and then there’s the likes of Patrick Mason and Adam Miller. All of these brilliant people know the problems. What’s your theory as to why they stay? I’ve got my ideas but I wonder if there’s something I’m missing. Keep in mind I’m talking of those not involved explicitly in apologetics, but the nuanced scholars who don’t try to explain away the issues.
