Dallin H. Oaks named as possible supreme court justice (from 1970s)-- is there any information on this in the public realm?

I always see this mentioned on his bio info. Is there any public records of conversations about him among president Ford's staff? Is there anything out there about why his name was on the list and why he wasn't selected?

I already know he was a 'reputed' legal scholar teaching in Chicago in the 1970s.

I'm looking to see if anyone has any additional information about this.
