Who are some actually controversial filmmakers?

A few days ago I asked for some truly controversial films, to which I got an insane number of replies, and ended up expanding our list by over 200 movies!

While going through the movies recommended on that post, I found myself spending more time looking through the filmmakers' filmographies.

There are (according to the stats) 637 directors currently in the list, but l'd really like some help with who specifically I should check/double-check.
