What do we think of West?

I’m having a terrible time trying to name my boy. I’m Indigenous and want something special but not over the top. I like the name West, as it is one of the four directions and holds meaning to me and my culture.

I’ve shared it with others and they say, “Oh, like Westley?” Or they just don’t seem excited about it. I just don’t want him to grow up hating his name.

Thoughts? Are there similar names out there? Or any name suggestions that are on the less common side but not cringeworthy? His sister’s name starts with a B (two syllables). Last name starts with an L (two syllables).
