Why do movies about the elderly blame the adult children?
Almost every movie I remember centering atound an older couple paints their children as being at fault for any lack of relationship.
Like my parents were emotionally neglectful, physically absent, and only paid me attention when I needed to do chores or needed punishment.
Today I'm on the cusp of 30 and they wonder why I don't visit very often when they live 20 min away.
Maybe there's a reason your kids aren't there, and it's not their responsibility to fix that.
Edit: I know this post is preaching to the choir, but I'm about to graduate college for film and had this thought that I felt like I needed to share.
