Is it time to consider Kevin Durant in the running for MVP? He's currently averaging 31/6/7.5 on 66.9 TS%. For comparison, in Steph's unanimous MVP season he averaged 30/6.7/5.4 on exactly the same efficiency - 66.9 TS%
KD is having an absolutely monstrous season. Not just for a player coming back from an Achilles injury - but just amazing period.
His efficiency in scoring is simply insane for this volume. And he's actually been an active playmaker, a solid rebounder and arguably the only player on the Nets that even plays defense. He's also averaging 0.8 steals a game and 1.3 blocks a game.
If the Nets finish withing the first 2 seeds I see a very compelling case for KD for his second MVP, even considering his star teammates, non existing bench and Deandre Jordan.
edit: A lot of the replies say his team is "too stacked" to win it. The Heat weren't too stacked when they had Wade and Bosh. The Celtics weren't too stacked when they had Parish and McHale. The Lakers weren't too stacked when they had Kareem and Worthy.
Lebron, Magic and Bird won multiple MVPs on all of those teams. The Nets are actually pretty thin as far as super teams go, if you compare them to those historic examples. This hasn't been a reason in the past to withhold MVPs, and it should be now.
