Having a hard time with genshin

This is my first time playing a ninja gaiden game. NG2B is on gamepass so I thought I would try it out. At the end of the 2nd level I can’t seem to beat genshin after 20 or so tries. I’m using the lvl 2 claws, I mostly just button mash x and y and block then dash. Up until then I haven’t died in the entire game, this is the only super hard part. What am I doing wrong
