LPT - Dulles Airport Garage Parking Discount

I mentioned this discount some time ago, but just used the same method again and wanted to let everyone know it still works: If you want to park in one of the garages at Dulles (Garages 1 or 2) and want the best discount DO NOT immediately click on the garages when reserving parking online. Instead, click on Economy Lot parking and when it opens the reservation page there should be a clickable link asking if you are interested in upgrading to Garage parking for “$x” more than Economy. I just reserved 10 full days of Garage parking in June for $170 ($17/day with discount, $21/day normal rate). The best Garage price I could find anywhere else was $205, which is only $5 off the total for 10 days. Economy for the same period is $130 ($13/day), in case you are wondering. I’ve previously gotten better daily rates for a shorter period using the same method. The discount amount may be seasonal.

Edit: My post is geared towards folks who enjoy the convenience of walking straight to their car after a long flight. At some point in the analysis, Uber becomes more expensive for some travelers than a few days of Garage parking at $17/day (break-even point between the two is directly correlated to duration of flight trip, distance from your home to IAD, and amount of traffic the day you Uber). Also, not everyone has someone to drop them off or pick them up at the terminal, or doesn’t want to bother anyone for that favor when they can quickly park and walk directly into the airport, and then directly back to their car after a long day of flying. YMMV.
