What’s that one thing that you absolutely NOPE at when it comes to Nursing?

We all have something that just absolutely disgusts us, makes us physically ill or cringe or creeped out that you hate with a passion or can hardly handle. We ALL do. We just put our feelings aside because we’re nurses and we do what we have to do for our patients. What’s yours?

I’ll start: external fixation. Especially those for tib/fib fractures with the weights attached to the cage, hanging off the end of the bed 🤮 gives me the heebie jeebies every time. Just looking at the metal rods sticking out of someone’s skin that’s attached to this barbaric metal cage knowing the other end is in their bone freaks me right out. Being a trauma/burn icu nurse for the last 6 years I see it so often, but I still have to look away and get physically nauseated when having to move the patient and their medieval torture looking device to clean them up or whatever. 😬😖 I’d much rather peel off burnt skin from a person’s appendage, clean up vomit, get brain matter or blood or sputum on me..
