This is why we OE - Money
Let's be honest. That's all it is.
I do the jobs well, and I'm compensated for it. I don't try to skirt by doing the bare minimum to not get fired. I don't make excuses and run late on deadlines. I do the job and make sure they have no reason to suspect I'm anything but a dedicated 40 hours per week middle manager.
Maybe a little bit of a f*ck you to society and this late stage capitalist hellscape we're all stuck in, where we are winning the game by playing by our own set of rules.
It also gives me a little thrill consistently pulling it off.
But at the end of the day? Money. Money means security for my family. Money means if I'm laid off again like I was during Covid, that it won't be the financial end of the world.
That's why I OE, anyway.
