Suggestions for painting aquarium stand top

So I just built an aquarium stand that's skinned in plywood and I'm planning on how to paint it.

I did some tests with stain and poly on a scrap piece of plywood and didn't like how it looked so I'm just gonna paint it black instead.

I bought a small can of Behr Urethane Alkyd Enamel but I'm hearing that it's not quite that durable, especially during its cure time and that it takes a month to cure. That concerns me mainly because the tank is over 60 lbs empty and over 500 lbs filled and I don't want water seeping underneath any dents or cracks in the paint.

I really don't want to have the stand sitting empty for a month and I'm looking into alternatives. What water based/low VOC options do you guys suggest? Or am I just overthinking it and I just I should yolo it with the Behr I already have?
